Shepherdstown Kiwanis Club Organizes Virtual Wine Auction Amid COVID-19 Restrictions
The Shepherdstown Kiwanis Club has traditionally held an annual wine and cheese pairing dinner and auction in September. However, like many events, the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a challenge to hosting the event as usual. The club's annual wine and cheese pairing featured dinner and tasting, which was usually held at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Harpers Ferry.
To ensure that the beneficiaries of this year's event – Eastern Panhandle Boys & Girls Clubs – do not lose out on funds due to the cancellation, the Kiwanis Club decided to hold an online wine auction instead. The event will feature themed baskets such as France, Italy, Summer Fun, and Gardening. Each basket will include a bottle of wine along with other food items.
The auction will take place online on Sunday evening from 8pm onwards on September 26th.
In response to these circumstances, Shepherdstown Kiwanis Club has organized a virtual wine auction for their supporters who cannot attend their traditional annual events due to travel restrictions or other health concerns.
This decision ensures that all members can participate in raising funds for local charities while adhering strictly to social distancing measures.
Kiwanis clubs are known for organizing fundraising events throughout their communities but have had no choice but adapt during this challenging time.
Members are encouraged to visit www.ebay.com/kiwansshepherdstown/auction/2020-wine-auction where they can view all available items up for bid.
All proceeds from this virtual fundraiser will go towards supporting local youth organizations including Eastern Panhandle Boys & Girls Clubs.
As we continue navigating through uncharted waters together let us hope that our efforts make a difference in building stronger communities one step at a time.
